A Life well lived
COMFORT OMOLARA AJAYI, aka ‘Mama Lola’ was born on the 10th of December, 1941 in Lagos, Nigeria. She was
born to the family of Emmanuel Ayodeji Ajayi and Amudalat Balogun. From an early age, she was known for her
gentle nature, strong values, and deep sense of responsibility. Her upbringing was rooted in discipline, kindness,
and respect for others—qualities that would guide her throughout her life.
Early Life and Education
Omolara spent her childhood in Lagos and Ijebu-Odun. She began her early education at Anglican Girl’s
Secondary School Ijebu-Ode (where she was a school prefect) and graduated in 1962, before proceeding to
Queen’s College, Yaba Lagos Nigeria from 1963 to 1964 where she obtained the Higher School Certificate
Examination. During her formative years, she demonstrated intelligence, determination, and a love for learning.
After completing her A-levels, she pursued further training and personal development in the field of accounting
in the United Kingdom. Her desire to grow and improve herself allowed her to build a meaningful life and career.
Career and Accomplishments
Omolara was made an associate at The Association of Certified Accountants United Kingdom in 1974 and built a
respectable career in Accounting. She worked at the Ministry of Finance Lagos Nigeria before working with her
father at Wayfarers Hotel in Lagos as an accountant. Omolara also ran her own professional accounting practice
where she provided expert services to client from various sectors. in addition to this, she was into trade and
investment; sourcing goods locally and internationally. Very importantly, she was able to make her business a
very lucrative one.
Over the years, she worked with dedication and integrity throughout her career. Her colleagues admired her
work ethic, honesty, and commitment to excellence.
Beyond her professional achievements, Omolara remained committed to supporting her family and
community, always ready to give advice or lend a helping hand. She trained and mentored people from all walks
of life, many of whom have gone on to lead accomplished and meaningful lives.
Marriage and Family Life
Omolara is blessed with two sons: Lola and Oluwanishola. As a mother, she was loving, protective, and deeply
devoted to the well-being of her children. She ensured that her children had the best education abroad.
As the family grew, she embraced her role as a grandmother with great joy and pride. Her grandchildren
brought immense happiness to her life.
Her home became a place of warmth and hospitality where family and friends felt welcome. She contributed
immensely to the lives of her siblings all through their education. She was supportive towards her cousins,
nephews, nieces, in- laws, friends, colleagues and mentees.
Faith and Community
As a woman of strong faith and a devoted member of Wesley Church Ikoyi Lagos Nigeria, Omolara contributed
greatly to the growth of the church. Her faith guided her life and shaped her compassionate spirit. She was also a
member of the Bible Society of Nigeria and she was once a matron of the Boy’s Brigade attached to Wesley
Church Ikoyi in 1990.
Legacy
Omolara lived a meaningful life defined by love for her family, dedication to her community, and unwavering
faith.
She is survived by children, brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Though she will be
deeply missed, her legacy of love will continue to live on through those she leaves behind.
