“A sincere and loving sister”

Sista Molara, you were the one I always went running to for advice and explanation of why things happen
the way they do!!
You were steady and calm and always there when I needed you. You loved your siblings and us cousins
even though some people didn’t understand you, they thought you were just difficult but I would rather
say you were stubborn and a stickler for tradition and respect. However, you listened to and accepted the
knowledgeable advice and ‘talk’ of our late Aunties and late older cousins – now, you’re all together!!!
I miss you sista, even though we seldom saw each other because of our different locations.
Sleep on Sista in the loving arms of our Saviour, till we meet to part no more

Tribute to My Beloved Sister
My dear Sister,
As I write these words, my heart is filled with both gratitude and deep sorrow. You lived a long and
meaningful life, and even though you were in your 80s, it still feels like you left too soon. You were not just
a sister to me—you were a guiding light, a second mother, and a constant source of love and strength.
You were a loving, caring, and hardworking woman. Your hands were never idle, always finding ways to
provide, support, and uplift those around you. You gave so much of yourself without expecting anything
in return, and your generosity touched countless lives—especially mine.
You opened your home and your heart to reveryone. Your hospitality was unmatched; anyone who came
into your presence felt welcomed, valued, and at peace. You had a way of making people feel special, and
your kindness created a home filled with warmth and laughter.
I will never forget all that you did for me. You stood by me, supported me, and shaped me into the person I
am today. Your sacrifices, your guidance, and your love will remain with me forever. I am deeply grateful to
God for the gift of having you in my life.
Though you are no longer here with us physically, your legacy lives on in the lives you touched, the values
you instilled, and the love you shared. I will carry your memory in my heart always, and I will strive to live in
a way that honours you.
Rest well, my dear sister. You have fought a good fight, you have finished your race, and you have left
behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness. You will forever be missed, forever cherished, and forever
loved.
With all my love…

“Tribute to My Beloved Big Mummy”

My beloved Big Mummy,
Though words may never fully capture the depth of who she was, I stand here honored to share a few
memories of a woman who meant so much to me and to everyone who knew her.
Big Mummy was more than just a name—she was a pillar of strength, a woman of discipline, and a heart full of
love. As her sister’s son, I had the privilege of experiencing her kindness and care firsthand.
She had a way of making you feel seen, valued, and guided, even when her methods were strict.
She was a hardworking woman who believed in doing things the right way. Big Mummy didn’t just talk about
values—she lived them every single day. Her strength and dedication were evident in everything she did, and
she inspired those around her to be better, to work harder, and to stay grounded.
Yes, she was strict—but her strictness came from a place of love. She wanted the best for us, and she made
sure we stayed on the right path. Today, I understand that her discipline was one of the greatest gifts she gave
us.
What I will miss the most is her presence—her voice, her guidance, her quiet acts of care that often went
unnoticed but meant everything. Big Mummy had a way of showing love not just in words, but in actions,
sacrifices, and unwavering support.
Though she is no longer with us physically, her lessons remain with us. Her strength lives on in us. Her love
continues to guide us.
Big Mummy, thank you for your kindness, your sacrifices, and your unwavering love. You have left a mark on
our hearts that will never fade.
May your soul rest in perfect peace.

My Beautifully Enigmatic Big Mummy
It is burdensome to grapple with the loss of certain people in life; people who have had immense impacts in
the way you view the world and how you manage what it brings.
Big Mummy is at the top of my list of such influential people. The way she led her life was somewhat of rocket
science or like an archaeological discovery whose history is unknown and may be unstudiable.
She was was the embodiment of a paradox and I can simply describe her thus:
Delegative, yet hands on
Strict, yet lenient
Loving, yet loooooving
Indifferent at times, yet caring
Sophisticated, yet conservative.
How can one begin to understudy such an amazing, all-around person?
Big Mummy never paid attention to social or religious differences; what she saw was just humans. She reached
out to everyone. Old, young; christian, muslim; rich, not rich; strong and weak. It was just her view of life as an
unbalanced equation which required us as humans to find how to mitigate reality’s challenges as best as one
could.
I miss you very much Ma but very importantly, you are already soaring with the angels.
Rest on my dear Big Mummy . I see that your big smile already

Tribute to My Beloved Big Mummy

It is with deep love and heartfelt gratitude that I write this tribute to my beloved Big Mummy, who lived a
full and meaningful life.
Big Mummy was more than an aunty to me—she was a source of comfort, wisdom, and unwavering love.
Spending the last three months of her life with her is something I will forever cherish. In those moments, I
experienced her kindness, her strength, and her beautiful spirit in a deeper way.
When I saw her in the first week of January 2026, she was so happy to see me, and I was equally overjoyed
to be with her. We spent precious time talking, laughing, and sharing memories. Little did I know that
those moments would become some of my most treasured memories, as she passed on in the second
week of January.
Big Mummy had a way of making you feel seen and appreciated. She would always say “thank you” for
even the smallest things I did for her. Her gratitude was genuine, and it reflected the goodness in her
heart.
She loved to share family history, passing down stories that connected us to our roots. She spoke openly
about the things that concerned her and the hopes she carried in her heart. Yet, through it all, she
remained positive and optimistic. Her words were always filled with hope, and she chose to see the good,
even in difficult times.
One thing I will never forget is how she always prayed for me. Her prayers were constant, sincere, and
powerful. She covered me with love in ways words cannot fully express.
Big Mummy lived a life of love, generosity, and faith. She gave of herself freely, and her presence brought
warmth to everyone around her. Though she is no longer with us physically, her legacy lives on in the
values she instilled, the memories she created, and the love she shared.
I will miss her deeply, but I take comfort in knowing that she lived a beautiful life and that I was blessed to
spend her final days by her side.
Rest well, Big Mummy. Your love remains with me always

To A Wonder Mother

The last time we spoke was on your birthday. You were praying for me endlessly like you always do, even though it was your own special day.

I had no idea it was going to be our final communication. Elderly or not, we do not wish our loved ones to die. But God has the ‘say’. He is the owner of you and he chose to call you onto his presence at this time. This is what gives me calm. Knowing that you exceptionally loved God and you loved people around you. You were principled but truly kind, boundlessly selfless, excessively generous, tremendously optimistic. If the sky was falling, you would still have hopeful words to speak. This has had a positive impact on me.

You possessed in abundance such positive virtues and values that seem rare. You were a powerful mentor. You wished people well. You had kind thoughts towards others. I never heard you speak evil about someone else.

You also had such exceptional taste. Distinct. The loveliest pairs of shoes I had growing up- you bought them. Each time I remember you, I smile. For who you were and all the things I learned from you throughout my life.

I will miss you big mummy. My children will keep hearing stories of what a mother you were.

I love you so much but God loves you the most.

Afolabi Adigun

A tribute to our great Chief Omolara Comfort Ajayi, Iya Afin as she is fondly called by my mum & dad, my
first memories of you was coming to spend weekends at your house on Odo street and how that felt so
fresh with the black and white tiles in the corridor, red stairs and the living room with its quaint furniture.
I still remember playing with your sons and having our jeans which we scuffed at the knees repaired with a
patch.
I remember coming to Wayfarers, seeing your beautiful office and running around in the hotel corridors.
I remember the taste of Brazilian inspired Chinchin, gurudi, etc
I remember the first night we slept at Wayfarers during my granddads burial ceremony or was it two
nights.
I remember your insistence on replacing our tv at home when we the kids damaged the one we had
previously.
You are a core memory of my childhood.
As I grew older I was handed the duty of delivering sallah ram and stew to you yearly, the memories of
interactions stuck with me, your calmness, firmness and discipline.
Your chastisement on a evening when I came late to drop off the stew and having to come back the
following day.
Visiting you over the last couple of years has felt like time stood still when I walked into your apartment.
Your wit, memory, clarity of thought remained sharp till the very end.
You will be greatly missed.
Sun re Iya Afin

Tribute To Great Grandma
I fondly called her Mummy Sola & Lola. I remember my early years visiting her at her home in Obalende
and also going to the Hotel Wayfarers with my siblings. We will play around and usually had lots of snacks
and food. She treated us very gently and will not allow any harm come to us. I had lost touch after I got
married and had not seen her in about two decades. I came back very recently and saw that it was as if
time stood still. It was nostalgic as I realized that even though distance and time and created a gap; but,
she did not forget me. I hugged her as she kept recounting the past. We sat with her till late in the evening
when we had to leave. Fantastic memory Mama! As you journey through another phase- your afterlife, I
pray for ease for you. Odabo ooo, odigba ooo, ko Olorun sowa pade oooo; karira pelu ayo, kama ma
